Íslandsdeild ICOM býður félögum, safnafólki, fræðamönnum og hagsmunaaðilum til sérstaks fundar með Dr. Sally Yerkovich, sem leitt hefur endurskoðun siðareglna ICOM fyrir söfn undanfarin ár. Fundurinn fer fram í húsakynnum safnaráðs fimmtudaginn 5. mars kl. 10:00 til 11:30, Austurstræti 5, 4. hæð.
Hólmar Hólm, formaður Íslandsdeildar ICOM, setur fundinn og kynnir fyrirlesara dagsins. Þá flytur Dr. Yerkovich erindi um vinnuna við endurskoðun siðareglna ICOM, nýjustu drög og helstu áherslur. Að erindinu loknu verður tími fyrir opnar umræður og fyrirspurnir. Viðburðurinn verður á ensku.

Dr. Sally Yerkovich er aðjúnkt í mannfræði við Columbia-háskóla og stýrir fræðslu- og sérverkefnum hjá American-Scandinavian Foundation í New York. Hún leiðir endurskoðun siðareglna ICOM fyrir söfn og var áður formaður fastanefndar ICOM um siðareglurnar, ETHCOM. Sem fræðimaður á sviði menningar- og mannfræði hefur hún víðtæka reynslu af stjórnun safna- og menningarstofnana í New York og Washington D.C., meðal annars hjá The New Jersey Historical Society og Museum for African Art. Hún er jafnframt höfundur bókarinnar A Practical Guide to Museum Ethics.
Revision of the ICOM Code of Ethics: Presentation and Discussion with Dr. Sally Yerkovich
ICOM Iceland invites members, museum professionals, scholars and other stakeholders to a special meeting with Dr. Sally Yerkovich, Head of the Revision of the ICOM Code of Ethics for Museums. Hosted by the Museum Council of Iceland, the event will take place on Thursday, March 5th, from 10:00 to 11:30 am at Austurstræti 5, 4th floor, Reykjavík.
The meeting will begin with a brief introduction by Hólmar Hólm, Chair of ICOM Iceland, followed by a presentation from Dr. Yerkovich on the current state of the Code, its structure and key considerations. This will be followed by an opportunity for audience questions and discussion. The session will be held in English.

About the Speaker:
Dr. Sally Yerkovich is Adjunct Professor of Anthropology at Columbia University and Director of Educational Exchange and Special Projects at the American-Scandinavian Foundation in New York. She is Head of the Revision of the ICOM Code of Ethics for Museums and previously chaired the ICOM Standing Committee on Ethics, ETHCOM. As a cultural anthropologist, she has extensive leadership experience in museums and cultural institutions in New York and Washington, D.C., including The New Jersey Historical Society and the Museum for African Art. She is also the author of A Practical Guide to Museum Ethics.
